Preparation of and delivering Active Training Workshops

The workshop is expected to develop the following in the trainees:

1.      Conviction that Active Learning is a useful tool that will enhance students’ learning

2.      Ability to recognize Active Learning techniques when encountered in any class setting

3.      Conviction that change, wherever it exists, may cause distress and anxiety which can be overcome by first accepting it and then working actively to minimize its negative impact. The process of learning more about the learning process is called meta-cognition and is very important for educators to understand its underlying principles and impacts

4.      Ability to use Active Learning techniques and elements to either start a new course or convert an existing one to Active Learning approach

5.      Recognition that using Active Learning in the classroom entails exerting more effort from both faculty and students because whoever works more learns more

The workshop Teaching and Learning Activities throughout the program are:

1.      Listening to lecture, Watching training movies, Group and class discussion, Teaching others, Presentation of technical work, Solving problems using heuristics, Performing a demonstration, Assessing others work, Forming working teams,  and Developing team management skills.
