Abstract : Background: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is one of the most common menstrual disorders among females during the adolescence period. Studies are yet to reveal the knowledge and practices of premenstrual syndrome among adolescents in Medina City. Aim: To assess the knowledge and practices of adolescents with premenstrual Syndrome in Medina City Methods This is an exploratory descriptive cross sectional study conducted at secondary schools in Medina, Saudi Arabia. 1107 students were chosen randomly from the previously mentioned setting who fulfilled the inclusion criteria recruited as a study participant. A self- administered questionnaire assessed the participant's knowledge and practice with PMS. Results: The results indicated that 72.1% of the participants experienced PMS. While 81.7% had good knowledge about PMS and 79.0% reported the good practice to overcome the symptoms of PMS. Furthermore, the severity of symptoms of PMS significantly disturbed the participants’ routine of daily life, missed school classes and missed some social family events. Conclusion: in spite of the high prevalence of PMS among the participants, they were able to overcome its symptoms by good knowledge and practices, however, the symptoms seems to disturb their life either socially or academically. The researcher recommended the importance of the development of school health services for better detection and management of PMS. Improve adolescents’ ' knowledge regarding PMS as well as enhance healthy lifestyle through booklet, educating programs, mass media, and articles.
