Abstract
:
Introduction: Fiber reinforced posts possess biomechanical properties that very close to dentin as moduli of elasticity. The aim of the study was to compare the bond strength and the fracture resistance of endodontically treated molar teeth after receiving D.T. light post Illusion with the Spirapost. Methods: Forty extracted mandibular molars were selected for the fracture resistance test divided into three groups according to post received (n=15): group received Spirapost, group received D.T. Light-Post Illusion and control group received composite filling without post. Pull-out test was used to test the bond strength in single rooted teeth (n=12). Data analysis was done using ANOVA, Chi square test and independent t- test. Significance value was set at 0.05. Results: The DT group displayed significantly the highest fracture resistance value, while Spirapost group had the lowest value and were significantly different from control group (p=0.010). The SP group had significantly higher pull-out value bond strength more than DT group (p=0.010). Conclusion: DT Light-Post Illusion increase strength of lower molar teeth when used combined with composite filling. SpiraPost system has a higher bond strength compared with DT Light-Post Illusion which minimize leakage and failure.
