Abstract
:
Remote Patient Monitoring system is an approach of a health care system that enables the patient to perform a remote periodical check-up. Unfortunately, these types of systems usually do not provide the advantages of securely sharing patient health information among different health providers. Many types of research aimed to solve this issue by applying the blockchain technology to the existing patient health information records at hospitals. However, none was found regarding the remote patient monitoring systems generated data concerning the critical time of emergency cases. In this thesis, we integrated the advantages of blockchain and the Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) system by building a secure blockchain-based RPM system. The blockchain-based RPM system collects the used medication and physiological signs such as blood pressure and blood glucose from the patient. It processes these data before sending and generates alerts in case of an emergency. The doctor can view the RPM generated data, and the blockchain stored data using a web portal. This thesis provided a two-level performance analysis. The first one is on system functionality level, while the second one is on different use cases comparing level.
