Abstract : The aimed to reveal the relationship between fine motor skills and school readiness in six sub-fields which are; spoken language, reading, writing, math, classroom behavior, and daily life skills, by using the relational descriptive approach. The study tools included the seventh and eighth sub-tests of the motor proficiency scale (BOTMP), and the school readiness scale which includes six sub-scales of the specified fields. The clustered random sample consisted of (120) pre-school children in Taif city in Saudi Arabia. Quantitative data was analyzed using a multiple linear regression test. The results concluded that there is a strong positive statistically significant correlation between fine motor skills and spoken language, reading, numeracy, classroom behavior and daily life skills. As for writing; the results showed medium positive statistically significant relationship. Fine motor skills explained (57%) of the variance in the level of the spoken language, (66.5%) of the variance in reading, (42%) of the variance in writing, (53%) of the variance in math, (52%) of the variance in classroom behavior, and (49%) of the variance in daily life skills. In total, the study showed a strong positive statistically significant relationship between fine motor skills and school readiness, in which the model explained (77%) of the variance in school readiness. In the light of the results the study recommends providing opportunities for manipulative activities in order to enable children to master their fine motor skills, and to conduct research about fine motor skills as a predictor of academic success in school. Key words: Pre-school children, Fine motor skills, School readiness, Readiness to learn, Academic skills, Classroom behavior, Everyday life skills.
