Abstract
:
Man should pay attention to giving thanks to Allah's blessings and favors as thanking is a duty of which Allah Al Mighty orders His slaves and causes a great reward for this in the life and the hereafter. This study aims to tackle this matter in light of verses of the Holy Quran, the source of guidance for humanity. The research method is to quote the Quranic verses on thanking, order them in chapters, and study them objectively through the books of interpretation (Tafsir). The research plan begins with defining and counting blessings, defining thanking and its types, tackling the thanking of prophets, peace be upon them, explaining the reasons of lack of thankful people, the fate of thankless nations who deny the favors of Allah Al Mighty. The study has many findings, mainly: Allah's favors and blessings are countless on man's body and surroundings. Thus, man should ponder over these favors and give thanks to Allah for them, by hear, tongue and physical faculties as gratitude for blessings is a cause of them being increased and for thankful people to be rewarded by the promise Allah gives to the thankful people, particularly His prophets mentioned as "thankful" in the Holy Quran such as Noah and Ibrahim, peace be upon them, or who talked about thanking such as Dawood and Suleiman, peace be upon them, or who urges their nations to thank Allah such as Moussa, peace be upon him. However, there are few people who are thankful despite the abundance of Allah's blessings and favors. The research tackles the reasons for lack of thankful people and the consequence of this disbelieving and denial which led to deprivation of blessings and replacement of blessings with curses and misfortunes.
