Abstract : Using Lean Concept to Improve Capital Maintenance Projects Processes at Service Organizations Hayas Abdullah Al-Shaikhy Supervised by Dr. Hemaid Alsulami Dr. Nader Alsayed Abstract For the last two decades, Lean Concept has been primarily applied to improve manufacturing processes. However, Lean Concept is now increasingly applied to a wide range of service operations as well. Lean is a systematic method for waste minimization within a manufacturing system without sacrificing productivity. The aim of the study is to improve Capital Maintenance Projects Processes of maintenance sector of West Operation Area at the Saudi Electricity Company by using Lean Concept. The objectives of this study are to determine which process parameters have the greatest impact on the duration of the capital maintenance projects and develop a work procedure that can be followed easily by all capital projects’ participants in maintenance sector of West Operation Area. As a result of this effort, the duration of Capital Maintenance Projects Processes has been reduced from 194 days to 110 days.
