This study addresses the short story written by women (feminist short story) from the literary and impartiality sides between the years 1400 to 1425. The study includes two main domains: the first domain focuses on looking at issues that include Saudi women writings; autobiographical, social or human writing. The second domain tackles with studying aesthetical awareness of Saudi women's fictionist in relation with achieving forms of creativity and art. This study aimed at reviewing the real image of women presence in cultural and literature discourse in Saudi Arabia, as well as clarifying the nature of self-awareness of fictionist herself, and approaching to what have been achieved in the cultural and literature field.
Based on the nature of this study, the researcher relied on the descriptive and analytical methodology; to get a close reading of the story collections, to focuses on the most important features technically and impartiality, and to explore the nature of special view of fictionist's philosophy and culture.
The study chooses a sample of story collections and their authors in which the basics and paths of the research can be studied. There are certain determinations of the samples; the technical quality of studied stories, the variation of their styles and contents, the time limits of them are between 1400 to 1425, and the concentration is on the most famous writers at this period.
The study concludes that the short story written by women has achieved significant strides in; story production, development of literary structure, variation of themes and directions, and effective participation in solving social issues on wide range by using sincere expression and literary realism. The realism comes first in the stories of that period, and the social tendency dominates the most of the stories.
The short stories written by women have in the most of them a view and spirit; differing from what was dominant in Saudi short stories. That's reflecting a separated women spirit. Women's stories showed also a variation in literary styles used in the purpose of clarify the contents of stories.
Regarding to themes that addressed by feminist short story in this period, the Saudi fictionist moved to reflect the human issued rather than writing about self suffers and social problems. In her stories, she has depicted misery and poverty issue, myth and ignorance, and wars. The backbone of most of texts structure was condemnation of the suppression and oppression that women suffer from. Usually the oppressor side is the society represented by man. |
