Geographic Distribution of Recreational Activities Available for Saudi Women in Jeddah
التوزيع الجغرافي للأنشطة الترويحية المتاحة للمرأة السعودية في مدينة جدة.

Subject : Geographical distribution of recreational activities
Document Language : Arabic
Abstract : The study examines the geographic distribution of recreational facilities available to Saudi women in the city of Jeddah. It also tries to highlight women’s attitudes towards the use of recreational facilities according to their social, educational, economic, and demographic characteristics. To analyze data, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was utilized. Of this package, a number of statistical analysis methods, such as Analysis of Variances (ANOVA) and the Scheffe Pos – Hoc were used to calculate the correlative relations among the study’s independent and dependent variables. The ArcGIS 9.1 and ArcView 3.2 GIS Softwares were used to build a Geographic Information System and create maps to show the geographic distribution of all recreational facilities in Jeddah. The study found that the distribution of recreational facilities in Jeddah is a cluster, because most of these facilities are located in the north and north-west part of the city, either because they are connected to the sea shore, or because of the availability of space needed for new urban sprawl. The study found that six major independent variables (age, marital status, work, education, income, and number of children in the family) affected women’s decision to use recreational facilities
