Abstract
:
This study seeks applying a spatial analysis of archaeological sites and tourist attractions in Medina using GIS technology by using spatial analysis tools available in software like ArcGIS Spatial Analyst characterized by its superior ability for analyzing spatial data linked to a descriptive database for knowing properties of a certain site through studying the spatial relationship for the geographical phenomena, and knowing the type of geographical distribution for geographical features and their spread on earth. The study depended on both qualitative and quantitative analysis of digital data while using some qualitative and quantitative analysis methods, chart representation, and Cartography for explaining the spatial features of archaeological sites and tourist attractions in Medina. The spatial analysis of archaeological sites and tourist attractions in Medina concluded that there is a clear difference in geographical distribution of these sites, as most of the sites concentrated towards the south west of the mosque of the prophet by 39.442%, while a percentage of 32.786% concentrated towards the north west of the mosque of the prophet. The study showed that the east side of the mosque of the prophet lacks spread of archaeological sites and tourist attractions as the percentage was 16.393% in the south east side of the mosque of the prophet, and 11.475% in the north east side of the mosque of the prophet.
