The aim of this study is to use GIS to improve the management system of charity housing in Jeddah city, to facilitate follow-up by the relevant authorities, this was became possible by building a geodatabase to these charity housing after they have been counted, and their geographical location had been identified, and also necessary metadata (Attributes) had been collected in order to recognize their distribution pattern, a guidance road maps were prepared for charity housing, to help in providing services when needed. The interface was designed to be used with correspondent geodatabase to feed - with the specific terms - the authorized officials and those who are concerned of charity housing. The study mainly used the applied approach, which relied on some of GIS softwares, such as ArcGIS10, and extension of ArcGIS Engine 9.3, and other helping software such as a Google Earth 6.1, and Visual Studio 2008, the study passed over three main phases; beginning with the collected data entry into the computer, and building the database -after some required processes and statistical analyzes of the data - and finally designing the user interface that enabled access to the contents of the database. The study located 48 charity housings which are distributed through twenty districts in Jeddah city. The main findings of the study are assuring the possibility of building a geodatabase to help in providing easy access to the data by different users and building a user interface compatible with GIS programs to facilitate the management of data of these kinds of housing. |
