Abstract
:
The aim of this paper is to design a curriculum planning for teaching Physical Therapy for Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery according to the great advances in the medical field, including Physical Therapy. In the past, the method for teaching this subject theoretically and clinically was suitable for the nature of diseases and procedures of diagnosis and treatment during this period. Nowadays, this is not enough; therefore an improvement in the procedures of teaching Physical Therapy is of great importance to cope with the recent advances in science to achieve the best results for the sake of our patients. In order to the highest level of teaching this subject, the Physical Therapy Department for Pediatrics and Pediatrics Surgery should be divided into two main units: * Physical Therapy Unit for Pediatrics. * Physical Therapy Unit for Pediatric Surgery. Each unit comprises the following subjects: - Theoretical subjects from the medical or the surgical point of view. - Theoretical subjects from the physiotherapeutic point of view. - Clinical practice on patients in hospitals. Such classification is very important, as there is a great difference in the modalities and procedures of treatment in both units. This difference may be attributed to the wide variation in etiology pathology, clinical picture, treatment and complications of each disease in both units.
